The main objectives of the second phase of the project implementation focused on the research documentation and the initiation of the empirical studies, as follows:
RO2. The analysis of the state-of-the-art in the exploration of the intellectual capital (human, structural and relational) in the European SMEs (ongoing from 2018);
RO3. The examination of the level of internationalization of the Romanian SMEs (ongoing from 2018);
RO4. The development of an interdisciplinary conceptual model and research instrument liable to integrate the issue of IC and SMEs internationalization;
RO5. The increase of scientific knowledge (at national and international levels) regarding the impact of IC on SMEs internationalization (ongoing in 2020).
Given the interdisciplinary scope of the project and the interconnected research areas, the main deliverables (i.e., publications) during the second phase of the project implementation revolved around the following key issues:
KI1. in-depth investigations of the relationship between intellectual capital and SMEs internationalization as depicted in both conceptual and empirical papers;
KI2. the analysis of the multifaceted instruments for developing the intellectual and financial capital of Romanian SMEs;
KI3. the advancement of interdisciplinary conceptual and structural models for investigating different facets of intellectual capital in the process of SMEs internationalization;
KI4. the exploration of the internationalization process of Romanian SMEs starting from the in-house contexts.
